Ordnance QF 25-pounder
The Commonwealth's standard field gun-howitzer of WWII.
Historical Record
Provenance & Service
Combining the gun and howitzer roles in a single weapon, the 25-pounder was the principal field artillery of British and Commonwealth forces through WWII and into the 1960s. The distinctive circular firing platform allowed quick traverse for anti-tank work. It saw action from El Alamein to Imjin.
