Pumhart von Steyr
The largest known wrought-iron bombard by caliber, built in early 15th-century Styria.

Historical Record
Provenance & Service
Constructed in the early 15th century in Styria (modern Austria), the Pumhart von Steyr fired stone balls of up to 690 kg over a range of about 600 m. It exemplifies the craft of wrought-iron bombard construction — staves welded into a tube and bound with shrunk-on iron hoops. Now exhibited at the Heeresgeschichtliches Museum, Vienna.
